The unfortunate fact is that the fate of these particular animals is sealed, but you can be the hope behind preventing future generations from ending up in those same cages. We ask that you think of these animals awaiting almost certain death in the shelter – scared, alone and frightened. Please give the gift that will make the difference – join in our mission and help us in building a better future for all of New York City’s animals. Please donate.

Rescue Ink Pet Investigator, Angel, meets Dr. Kaplan…while National Geographic TV
looks on. Angel and Des Calderon, a Feline Specialist, transport feral cats to the Toby Project van.
You may have heard that the feral cat problem has grown to huge proportions. Last night an animal protection group named Rescue Ink trapped 7 feral cats in Manhattan as part of the TNR program – that stands for “trap, neuter and return.” This morning, The Toby Project played an integral role in the process, neutering 6 male cats and spaying 1 female cat today in our mobile van, while parked outside the area where the cat colony is located at 131St Street and Frederick Douglas Blvd. The idea is that it’s impossible to find homes for so many cats in the growing number of feral feline colonies – so in order to control the population, these animals must be spayed/neutered. Two local residents had contacted Rescue Ink to ask for assistance. The cats, who live in a lot nearby are fed and watched-over by these two women. Rescue Ink stepped in to address this situation and then contacted the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals for assistance with the spay/neuters. They, in turn, called on The Toby Project and we were happy to help. This story featuring Rescue Ink was taped by National Geographic TV and will be part of a series scheduled to air in the fall…details to come. MORE PHOTOS
