13-Year-Old Donates Bat Mitzvah Gifts to The Toby Project

13-year-old Emily Orchant donated her Bat-Mitzvah Gifts to The Toby Project.  Her gifts paid for approximately 50 spays and neuters of pets owned by residents of low-income NYC communities.  Left unfixed, 50 dogs and cats and their offspring could potentially yield half a million pets, many of whom would end up in our shelter system to be euthanized for lack of homes.  Thanks to Emily for her compassionate and unselfish choice!

National Night Out

On Tuesday, August 4, The Toby Project participated in National Night Out, along with millions of people in communities across the nation.  The community event's goal is to bring together the residents and the criminal justice system to prevent crime and foster community relationships.  We attended events in three Bronx police precincts -- the 40th, 47th, and 48th and spent time introducing our project to the residents of those neighborhoods.  We also spread the word about spay/neuter and our objectives --distributing written materials and speaking one on one.  It was a great experience for us and a good time for all.
